Default SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING WITH RISK OF TORNADO FOR MOST OF SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch that could mean hailstones and a tornado risk for Toronto and southwestern Ontario.

The advisory, issued Wednesday morning, covers a region stretching from Windsor in the west through to Midland and Durham region in the east.

The agency said thunderstorms will intensify through the course of the day.

"Large hail of two to three centimetres is the main concern," the agency said.

"There will be an increasing threat for strong, damaging wind gusts as well as an isolated tornado risk this afternoon. Frequent intense lightning and torrential downpours may also be expected."

The advisory comes amid a week of wet and warm weather in southwestern Ontario.

Warnings are also posted on all major weather stations in Ontario.

==DISCUSSION==

END/OSPC
Looks like EC is back to their usual ways of over-issuing warnings. We only have cloudy skies here in Niagara and there's nothing on radar. Squall line is far away over in Burlington and moving NE. I'm sure everyone in Niagara with new weather radios are getting ready to unplug them for good after having a warning alert tone go off and nothing even close to happening...

That's not to say it won't happen later, but nothing possible for QUITE some time at least. (imo)
