Photos and Video Jun.05/10 - confirmed F1 Leamington tornado

Update (11pm, Sunday Jun.6) - Environment Canada has confirmed one F1 tornado so far.
------------

This just passed through the wx list :

Quote:
There is chatter from Mark Rozitis about some pretty good damage down in leamington.

This is from 7amish

Donald ave, is one and pretty much everything from kingsville to and including leamington south of CR20 is deforested.

They are now closing off every road into the town, there is an area north of seacliffe park I believe that is ground zero and no one is getting in there.

Emergency operations centre now in effect and the whole town being sealed off.

I'm in one part and not moving around much because it's a one way....out.

State of emergency now in effect.
Anything new I'll keep posting in this thread (then move the thread to the 2010 storms forum if it is indeed true)

Might just be straight line wind damage (not tornado) :

A state of emergency has been declared in Leamington Sunday after a suspected tornado swept through the town downing trees, power lines and destroying homes.

Sounds like there may be three tornado reports.

The first in Essex from the first cell. About 1am someone just outside of the town reported windows blown out and property damage to their neighbours, at the time though a 105kmh wind gust was reported.

Then, the second and third possible tornadoes in Kingsbury and Leamington from the third supercell that went through at 3am.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN THE WINDSOR AREA LEFT THEIR MARK ON THE AREA
WITH DAMAGE REPORTS RELAYED FROM THE OPP COVERING A SWATH FROM NEAR
KINGSVILLE TO LEAMINGTON. ENVIRONMENT CANADA HAS SENT OUT A DAMAGE
SURVEY TEAM TO ASSES THE IMPACTS OF LAST NIGHTS STORMS IN THE
WINDSOR TO LEAMINGTON AREA. INTIAL RESULTS FROM THE SURVEY, POINT
TOWARD A PROBABLE F1 TORNADO WEST OF LEAMINGTON ALONG THE LAKE ERIE
SHORE.
MORE WORK REMAINS TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE
TRACK. ENVIRONMENT CANADA WILL CONTINUE ITS INVESTIGATION INTO
TOMORROW MORNING.

Issued by Environment Canada Toronto at 7:50 PM EDT Sunday 6 June
2010.

-------------------------------------------------------------
==weather  event discussion==

An unseasonably strong low pressure system tracking across the lower
Great Lakes prompted several warnings to be issued for the Windsor
and Chatham areas including tornado and rainfall warnings.
Significant rainfall amounts were recorded throughout much of
Southern Ontario last night with amounts ranging from about 20 to
50 mm. The rain is expected to taper off this morning in
Southwestern Ontario and late this afternoon in Eastern Ontario.

Severe thunderstorms in the Windsor area left their mark on the area
with damage reports relayed from the OPP covering a swath from near
kingsville to Leamington. Environment Canada has sent out a damage
survey team to asses the impacts of last nights storms in the
Windsor to Leamington area. Intial results from the survey, point
toward a probable f1 tornado west of Leamington along the Lake Erie
shore. More work remains to determine the extent of the damage
Track. Environment Canada will continue its investigation into
tomorrow morning.

A list of rainfall amounts as of 8 AM appears below.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Location rainfall amount (mm)
