The weather today is best described as *murky*. Damp and cloudy with mist and fog all day long, occasionally spitting a bit of drizzle. Probably the stereotype of what people imagine English weather to always be like. I think highs were around 7 C, but it's supposed to get a bit colder over the weekend and into next week with frosts at night and possible light winter showers. So, as some of you know, I'm living in England and planning to return to Ontario by this summer. I was hoping to move in June (in time for the height of thunderstorm season), and had a subletted apartment in Toronto seemingly sewn up with a nice retired lady, but she emailed me a couple days ago to say that she's not leaving the country for three months after all and thus not subletting her apartment. I've been too annoyed to reply to her as yet but I have been busy looking for alternative arrangements the last few days - not much success so far but hopefully we'll work something out. I'm hoping to find a sublet for about 3 or 4 months so that we can find work, then move into a more long-term place of our own. Of course doing this from England is tricky!

So, I won't be moving to Toronto this summer after all. I was operating under a misunderstanding - I won't go into it in detail, but basically I thought you had to be in Ontario to get into this particular academic program at Humber College. That *used* to be the rule, but it isn't anymore. Knowing that now, it's obviously not worthwhile to move to Toronto - a potentially very costly mistake has been averted. We'll be moving back to Winnipeg instead to save money, though I may be back in Ontario eventually - we will be applying to that program at Humber. But it could be a while and it's not even a sure thing.
That all said, I'm not sure what my presence on this forum will contribute, seeing as how it's about Ontario storms. I suppose I could create a thread in the "Canada" section and update it with comments on Manitoba's storm season from time to time though. Last edited by Eabie; 04-30-2013 at 01:00 PM. |
