Winnipeg has perhaps its deepest snowpack since 1997.
http://robsobsblog.blogspot.co.uk/20...m-summary.html Incidentally, Rob's Blog is one of my very favourite weather blogs. He doesn't sensationalize but is still very interested in all kinds of weather (especially severe weather, of course), has historical perspective, writes well, isn't too heavy on the jargon, etc. I believe he's retired now but used to work for Environment Canada. |

Even though I'm living in England, I keep tabs on the weather back at home in both southern Manitoba and southern Ontario. Well, Winnipeg still had a snowpack of around 37 cm as of yesterday morning (April 11th). It's usually mostly or completely melted by now! What's more, the first substantial snowfall was on November 10th (which is pretty early in the season) and there's possibly 5-10 cm of snow on the way for Sunday. I feel sorry for my parents!
You can read about it in more detail at Rob's Blog if interested: http://robsobsblog.blogspot.co.uk/20...n-way-for.html Last edited by Eabie; 04-12-2013 at 04:43 PM. |

Another post by Rob on the exceptionally late spring this year in the prairies:
http://robsobsblog.blogspot.co.uk/20...-southern.html It's looking like 2013 will be the latest spring in 140 years and this April may become the coldest on record. Last year people were going about in T-shirts and shorts in March and there were big thunderstorms in Winnipeg on March 19th... As for England, it's been around 15 C lately with a lot of cloud bubbling about, but some very good sunny spells (though this morning's pretty grim and miserable). Very little rain - just some light spitting here and there. Just pleasant and benign weather, but it's set to get cooler again and I've read forecasts that May will be cooler than average. I was hoping for some real warmth to help me get used to Ontario's heat again, but alas no luck yet. Last edited by Eabie; 04-17-2013 at 04:38 AM. |
