Default F0 Tornado in Prince Edward County - Sept 22/2012

Looks like there was a small F0 tornado last Saturday. It would seem it started out as a waterspout out on the lake and then blew ashore in Prince Edward County, near Picton. Below is the release from Environment Canada.

Quote:
AWCN11 CWTO 241900
Weather summary for all of Southern Ontario and the
National Capital Region issued by Environment Canada
At 3:00 PM EDT Monday 24 September 2012.

9th tornado of the season.

At around 6:20 AM on Saturday, September 22, a line of showers and
thunderstorms moved through parts of Eastern Ontario. In the town of
Wellington, Prince Edward County, two properties bordering on Lake
Ontario experienced some damage from this storm and as a result of
testimonial evidence Environment Canada is confirming the 9th tornado
of the year in the province of Ontario.

The tornado occurred near the intersection of highway 33 and
Regional road 2 in Wellington and is ranked as a Fujita scale zero
tornado with maximum windspeeds up to 110 km/h. The path of damage
was about 60-70 metres long and 10-15 metres wide, and damage along
the path included lawn furniture being tossed up to 50 metres away, a
picnic table thrown across the property, and a heavy deck lifted and
shifted off its foundation.

It is possible that this tornado formed over Lake Ontario. Such
waterspouts are typically not included in Environment Canada's annual
tornado tally unless they move ashore.

This is the 9th tornado of the season in Ontario. Ontario normally
has 13 tornadoes each year in a season that runs from late April
until early October.

This weather summary contains preliminary information
And may not constitute an official or final report.
