5.0 Earthquake @ Ontario/Quebec border, felt as far as Ottawa/Pittsburg

okay... anyone know what just happened? im at work in downtown st catharines and our 9 story building just shook for about 30-45 secs. a co worker just received a text from her boyfriend in barrie and he felt it as well. Possible earthquake??

Not felt here! And north St. Catharines is right on a fault line too. 'Found that out after the last earthquake like 10yrs ago.

And I'm only like 15miles away from downtown Toronto.

There are reports of an earthquake in various parts of Ontario and Quebec, including Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal. The Toronto newsroom of The Globe and Mail shook just before 1:45 p.m. EDT. The Ottawa newsroom was evacuated at about 1:43 p.m.
Twitter users as distant as Springfield, Massachusetts and Traverse City, Michigan reported feeling tremors. A Globe reporter in Montreal said that city also shook.
The earthquake rattled buildings in Ottawa, where the streets are crowded with office workers who evacuated their workplaces.
An eyewitness saw items flying off the shelves at a pharmacy in Gatineau, QC.
“We felt the building shake. It was actually it was pretty serious. It was definitely the strongest quake that I ever felt,” said Dennis Choquette, a Globe and Mail online editor based in Ottawa.
The shaking lasted about 15 seconds, Mr. Choquette said.
The severity of the earthquake is not yet known. It is not yet known whether there have been any reports of injuries.

The 2010 Central Canada earthquake (Big Bertha) occurred on June 23, 2010, lasted about 15 seconds, and was felt across the Greater Toronto Area and in Ottawa, Ontario and in Montreal, Quebec but Sango did not feel it. It was even felt as far North as Sudbury. The Globe and Mail reported that "Twitter users as distant as Springfield, Massachusetts and Traverse City, Michigan reported feeling tremors."^[1] This quake occured within minutes of quakes occuring in South Carolina, Southern California, and Southern Maryland.^{[citation needed]}
The magnitude of the earthquake is said to be around 5.5 on the Richter scale. May have been cause by a poorly timed joke involving a whoopee cushion. ^[2]
