ACCN10 CWTO 220750 Forecast of thunderstorm potential for the province of Ontario Issued by Environment Canada at 2:15 AM EDT Wednesday 22 May 2013. The next statement will be issued at 4.30 PM today. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Forecast of thunderstorm potential. Today..Slight risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon over Southern Ontario near and south of a line from Owen Sound to Muskoka to Brockville. Torrential downpours giving local rainfall amounts of 25 to 50 mm in under an hour, damaging wind gusts to 100 km/h, and intense lightning are possible. 2 cm hail is also possible. There is also a risk of a tornado. Otherwise across the rest of Southern Ontario and over Northeastern Ontario south of a line from Gore Bay to North Bay this morning, scattered non-severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours giving local rainfall amounts of 25 mm and frequent lightning are expected. Tonight..Slight risk of severe thunderstorms this evening over Southern and Eastern Ontario as a cold front moves through. Damaging winds, torrential downpours and intense lightning are the main threats. There is a lesser risk of large hail and an isolated Tornado cannot be ruled out. Otherwise across Southern and Eastern Ontario scattered non-severe thunderstorms with downpours And frequent lightning will end overnight. Thursday..No thunderstorms are expected over Ontario. --------------------------------------------------------------------- A thunderstorm is defined as severe if it produces one or more of the following: - wind gusts of 90 km/h or greater. - hail of 2 centimetres in diameter or greater. - rainfall amounts of 50 millimetres or greater in one hour or less. - a tornado.

NWS has southern ontario in a 30% chance of severe wind and hail storms, and 2% chance for tornado for this afternoon.
Haven't seen these odds in a long time.
