I have a couple videos on my Youtube channel of the Sarnia area tornado siren network, and I live only 15km from the only non-Lambton County tornado siren network in Ontario. There have been some siren threads on this forum, but here is one where you can post some eerie video's of the US tornado siren call if you know of any.

This one is pretty awesome, but I think it's only a test since it's sunny. Larned, Kansas.

I love those talking tornado sirens!

This is a crazy talking siren example from a St. Louis tornado warning. Whenever a tornado warning goes up for St. Louis, I always fire open the EarthCam Network and have a good listen to those sirens live in downtown. No one ever follows the siren instruction though :whistling:

I love this one, "a tornado warning has been issued for the city of St. Louis! Seek shelter immediately!"

Oh and if anyone was wondering how big a tornado siren is...

They are massive!

A CLM siren looks tiny compared to those P-50's! I seen 2 CLM's in Toronto. They seem smaller than a Federal Signal 2001 - probably because I was at a distance though.

This is probably one of the first video I seen of tornado sirens going off:

Sirens in Plano, Texas going off:

Sure would love to see more siren systems going up in Ontario!

Back in the 60's every community had at least one of these air raid sirens but the aging system started having failures in the 80's and upkeep outweighed its usefulness and many were removed. They used to hold tests every couple years which would last about a minute, very haunting sound similar to the one in the first video posted maybe a bit deeper tone. There was a failure in the 70's/80's were some around the province/country went off for about an hour sparked some fears of war.

Shot this video in Topeka the other day during a test. Didn't use a big enough memory card for my camera so I only recorded half of it. Still, sounds actually quite terrifying.

I believe that was 1984 or 1985. My mother remembers the air raid sirens in Kitchener going off in the middle of the night and everyone thought it was an attack at first. But, the TV and radio said it was a malfunction at the operations centre. The sirens sounded province-wide apparently.

I have some more of my May recordings to add.

Abilene, Kansas in Dickinson County. We unknowingly parked right beside a siren so it drowns out the rest during the first minute of the test.

Burlingame, Kansas in Osage County tornado sirens. This is one of my most favourite sounds to have heard. A comment on my video says this may be the first recording of two past siren models harmonizing. To me it sounds like leaf blowers.

Holton, Kansas in Jackson County. The town only sounded the sirens briefly, but the siren 2 blocks away continued for 3 minutes. We thought it would never end!
