There was an insane memphis heat burst today. I was just checking out the latest conditions and i couldnt beleive my eyes

Hehe. Definitely a typo or sensor glitch (probably the latter) :)

It would have gone up 74 degrees in an hour, heh. Not to mention, a heat rise that much, that quick, probably would have killed tens of thousands!

I remember an EC reading once saying there was an 800km/hr wind gust. That would have been neat to witness!

Heat bursts are known to go up to 50c or more in a matter of minutes, More extreme events have also been documented, where temperatures have been reported to exceed 188 F (87 C), although such extreme events have never been officially verified.

I totaly agree it could have been a sensor glitch but that really caught my attention as they can occur with dying thunderstorms. And that was the case at this time. Also the dewpoints drop drastically and that was seen in this case too.. Looks an awful lot like a heat burst. But i could be wrong

i would have to say it was more like a lightning strike close to or direct hit to the sensory equipment. I notice west memphis didn't record this event so it must ahve been real isolated.

That's not a heat burst that's an error in the equipment
