FORECAST OF THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL FOR THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO
ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA AT 4:10 AM EDT MONDAY 23 MAY 2011.

FORECAST OF THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL.

TODAY..OVER SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO SOUTHWEST OF A LINE FROM SOUTHERN
GEORGIAN BAY TO WESTERN LAKE ONTARIO THERE IS A MODERATE RISK OF
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS BEGINNING THIS AFTERNOON. OVER THE REMAINDER OF
SOUTHERN ONTARIO AND INTO EASTERN ONTARIO BEGINNING THIS AFTERNOON
THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. DAMAGING WIND GUSTS
OF 100 KM/H OR MORE, TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS AND INTENSE LIGHTNING ARE
THE MAIN THREATS. THERE IS ALSO A SLIGHT RISK OF A TORNADO
PARTICULARLY OVER SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO THIS AFTERNOON. OTHERWISE
OVER SOUTHERN AND EASTERN ONTARIO THIS MORNING AND OVER NORTHEASTERN
ONTARIO ALL DAY, SCATTERED NON-SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH FREQUENT
LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOURS, SMALL HAIL, AND WIND GUSTS TO 70 KM/H
ARE QUITE LIKELY.

TONIGHT..SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THIS EVENING OVER
SOUTHERN AND POSSIBLY EASTERN ONTARIO. DAMAGING WINDS, TORRENTIAL
DOWNPOURS AND INTENSE LIGHTNING ARE THE MAIN THREATS. OVER
NORTHEASTERN ONTARIO ISOLATED NON-SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH BRIEF
DOWNPOURS AND GUSTY WINDS ARE POSSIBLE THIS EVENING BEFORE A COLD
FRONT MOVES THROUGH. THUNDERSTORMS OVER SOUTHERN AND EASTERN ONTARIO
SHOULD COME TO AN END OVERNIGHT AS THE COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH.

WATFORD - PINERY PARK - EASTERN LAMBTON COUNTY

AN AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS CROSSING THE AREA IS LIKELY PRODUCING
LOCALIZED WIND GUSTS TO 100 KM/H. SMALL HAIL AND BRIEF
TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THE STORMS ARE MOVING
EAST AT NEAR 70 KM/H. THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW REPORTS OF WIND
DAMAGE ASSOCIATED WITH THESE STORMS.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE IMMINENT OR OCCURRING IN THE AREA.
THESE STORMS MAY PRODUCE LARGE HAIL, DAMAGING WINDS OR HEAVY
RAINFALL. REMEMBER THAT SOME SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN ALSO
PRODUCE TORNADOES.

MONITOR WEATHER CONDITIONS AND TAKE IMMEDIATE SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES.

A FEW AREAS OF THUNDERSTORMS OVER SOUTHERN ONTARIO HAVE THE POTENTIAL
TO PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 100 KM/H THIS EVENING. LARGE HAIL
IS A LESSER THREAT.
