I've noticed there has been alot of clutter on the king city radar, more on the weather networks radar, and accuweather....is it something about this time of year??

I'm curious about this i've heard migrating birds can cause clutter but i've never noticed myself....anybody able to shed some light on this??

Heh.. I think migrating birds would have to be VERY close (as in a few feet) of the beam to really clutter things up. Although radar might be able to detect birds, I doubt they would show up on the display.

Myself though, I haven't noticed any more 'clutter' on any images that I view often. eg. http://www.wunderground.com/radar/station.asp?ID=BUF19&clutter=

Are you sure the radars weren't in clear air mode? When there's no precip, they're not run in precipitation mode, and clear air mode shows much more clutter.

if you see this post now...check out the EC king city radar if you dont see this for a while it may have changed

it shows a whole bunch of reflectivity between huntsville and bancroft...

how can i tell which mode the radars are in?

I never use the Canadian radar sites because the resolution they give (on screen) is garbage. At least for free usage.

But on that radar if you check the right hand side (right now @<hidden> 2PM Nov.19 that is) it says "PRECIP" so it is in precipitation mode.

There's more southern Ontario area radar links here: http://www.ontariostorms.com/showthread.php?t=68

(I usually use the wxundergound one)
