WEATHER SUMMARY FOR SOUTHERN ONTARIO AND THE
NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA
AT 5:20 P.M. EDT TUESDAY 7 OCTOBER 2014.

STORM DAMAGE NEAR CAMBRIDGE MONDAY EVENING.

THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY MOVED THROUGH THE SHEFFIELD AREA, TO THE
SOUTHEAST OF CAMBRIDGE, AROUND 10:30 P.M. MONDAY EVENING. ENVIRONMENT
CANADA HAS RECEIVED REPORTS OF DAMAGE IN THIS AREA FROM THESE STORMS.
DAMAGE FROM THE STORM INCLUDED SIDING AND SHINGLE DAMAGE TO HOMES,
SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE DONE TO A RECREATIONAL VEHICLE, A SET OF BLEACHERS
AT THE LOCAL BALLPARK THAT WAS CARRIED A SHORT DISTANCE IN THE AIR
AND SOME TREE DAMAGE. THE DAMAGE TRACK APPEARS TO BE RELATIVELY
NARROW AND SOME OF THE DAMAGE WAS SCATTERED IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS.
THE POSSIBILITY EXISTS THAT THIS DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY A TORNADO.

ENVIRONMENT CANADA WILL CONTINUE THE INVESTIGATION WEDNESDAY MORNING
BY SENDING A DAMAGE SURVEYOR TO SHEFFIELD TO TAKE A FIRST-HAND LOOK
AT THE DAMAGE PATH. A FINAL DETERMINATION ON WHETHER THE DAMAGE WAS
CAUSED BY A TORNADO OR A BURST OF DAMAGING WINDS WILL LIKELY BE MADE
BY LATE IN THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY.
