August 9th, 2000 - Severe storms with MESO/TVS
Paul and I headed out around 4:30
after viewing the radar - nice storm development: 55000ft cloud tops, MESO and
TVS signatures on radar. We ended up in the county of Haldimand-Norfolk
where the storms were really well organized. Anti-cyclonic rotation was
very apparent and several "tendrils" dropped down on numerous
occasions, some becoming rather large as shown below. After the storm
became HP we headed back into Niagara along Hwy.3, drove through Port Colborne
and Fort Erie and saw some great anvil cloud-to-cloud (CC) lightning, a full
rainbow, and a great sunset. Not a bad day!
